Personal Details

I have a degree in BA in Social Policy, which I received at Portsmouth University. From the skills I acquired in my degree I have moved into Public Relations. These make use of my excellent written skills, and my personality - I am good in a crisis (and have much experience within this realm due to working in a Mental health Trust), have written numerous press releases, and been the communications lead on many different events (including introducing an events cycle into the Trust).

Throughout school and university, I supported myself by writing and designing web pages (original website). This means that I am particularly strong in new media work. With the rapid recent and current development of new media, we now cannot ignore its importance as a communications channel. Increasingly we are seeing an interrelationship between old and new media - for example new bulletins crediting Internet sources, or showing the fragmented video of satellite phones from correspondents in emergency zones. For many (including journalists), in some contexts, new media offer primary communication channels. Historically these new media presented a bigger technical problem than an editorial one, leading to either their neglect or a fracturing of their relationship with traditional media. Now, technology is straightforward, and the emphasis is on demonstrating an editorial and presentational congruence between traditional and new media that shows a company to be forward facing and organisationally agile.

For a less formal look at my life here is some information about my friends, family, and my sailing.
